Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s outfit which he wore during his meeting with US President Donald Trump have stirred a controversy. A luxury designer claimed that it was his creation. Khan wore a navy blue Shalwar Kameez and his favourite black Peshawari chappal during his meeting with Trump. According to The Nation report, his traditional attire during his visit to the White House captured the attention of many and became a talking point on the social media.
A designer from Islamabad claimed that he had designed Khan’s dress for his meeting with the US president.
Later, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Zulfi Bukhari rubbished the claims and said that the First Lady Bushra Bibi bought all the clothes and got them stitched from a local tailor.
“The PM has never been interested in designers or worn them, especially for his simple shalwar kameez. The First Lady bought all the cloth and got it stitched from a simple local tailor. Whichever designer is trying to claim credit for it is not only a liar but a cheat,” tweeted Zulfi Bukhari.
During Khan’s visit Donald Trump offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on the Kashmir issue as he met Prime Minister Imran Khan at the White House for the first time, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also asked him to help with the Kashmir issue. Trump said that he is ready to help, if the two countries ask.
"I was with Prime Minister Modi two weeks ago…. And he actually said would you like to be a mediator or arbitrator? I said where? He said Kashmir. Because this has been going on for many-many years," Trump said in response to a question during his meeting with Prime Minister Khan in the Oval Office.
"If I can help, I would love to be a mediator," Trump added.
