A powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale hit Southern Mexico area in the wee hours of Saturday, reported the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

No casualties or loss of life has been reported until now.

The earthquake was so strong that the people were forced to leave their buildings and office towers in the city, setting off quake alert systems.

Crowds of people gathered on central Reforma Avenue in Mexico City as the ground shook.

Earlier, in September, an earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale hit the central Mexico, which left 228 people dead in the capital and 369 across the region.
