Foreign filmmakers to shoot in India with new visa category

Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore stated on Monday a new category of visa for foreign filmmakers that is aimed at making India an attractive destination to shoot films.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rathore made these comments during a meeting with a delegation led by Russian Vice Minister of Telecom and Mass Communication Alexey Volin in New Delhi.

"Both the Film Visa and the Film Facilitation Office (FFO) have been aimed to promote India as an attractive filming destination to the world", he said.

Both the ministers also agreed to explore the possible collaboration between the two countries in the field of animations, graphics and visual content.

Cooperation in the field of content generation and content delivery mechanisms for different target audiences specially children and younger generation was also discussed, an official release said.

The ministers, while discussing the role of films as a medium of cultural exchange between the two countries, emphasised on exhibiting films in each other's country through the medium of film festivals.
