Russian President Vladimir Putin turned 66 on Sunday. Putin, who was born on October 7, 1952, in Leningrad, has been serving as the President of Russia since 2012. He had earlier held the position from 2000 to 2008. Before coming to politics, he served as a foreign intelligence officer for 16 years. On Saturday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that he would be celebrating his birthday close friends and loved ones. Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi was also headed to Russia to celebrate the Putin’s birthday.

As the powerful leader turns 66, here are some of the super-manly facts about him

1. He tracks polar bears: Putin’s hobbies make him a different world leader than others. One of it is tracking polar bears, Putin wants to help out in the rescuing and preservation of endangered species. And probably that was the reason he was clicked tying a satellite tracking device to a polar bear in 2010. 

2. A master of martial arts: The President of the world’s second most powerful nation himself is a champion in more than one form of martial arts. While Putin is a Judo champion, he is well versed with local martial art Sambo.

3. He’s driven a Formula One race car: Putin’s best friend: Steven Seagal is the name of the Russian President’s best friend. Recently, Putin recently proposed that his country make Seagal an honorary consul of Russia in California and Arizona.

4. He loves to hang out deep down the water: Putin loves hanging out in shipwrecks. In 2013, he once entered a submersible and sank to the bottom of the Gulf of Finland to check out a 140-year-old shipwreck.

5. He once captured a 46-pound pike: During a fishing trip in Siberia in 2013, Putin reportedly caught a pike weighing 46 pounds. This was one of the world’s biggest catch. However, some reports claimed that the actual weight of the pike was half of that.
