Bengaluru:

In an incident reflecting the careless attitude of the keepers of Bannerghatta National Park, near Bangalore, a white tiger walked into the enclosure of the Royal Bengal Tigers as it was left open by the park keepers.

As a result, three Royal Bengal Tigers attacked and badly wounded the white tiger within a matter of few minutes. The incident occurred on Sunday evening and a few visitors caught the incident on their mobile phones and also tried to stop the scuffle by shouting but to no avail.

About 30 minutes later the park officials reached the site and rescued the white tiger after which the animal was taken to the park’s hospital where it is undergoing treatment.

Interestingly, a few minutes before this particular incident, the three Royal Bengal Tigers had attacked another white tiger but it managed to escape unhurt.

The officials of Bannerghatta National Park admitted the lapse and the zoo director has ordered an inquiry.

The rules of the National Park prohibit keeping the white tigers and Royal Bengal Tigers in the same enclosure.
