New Delhi:

It has been 10 days since Russian President Vladimir Putin made his last public appearance.

Rumors are on high that there may have been a coup. According to reports, a convoy of large trucks was spotted outside the Kremlin, sparking a blend of speculation.

On Wednesday it was announced that a summit he had been due to attend in Astana, Kazakhstan, would be postponed, which added fuel to the fire.

The mystery made the hashtag #putinumer (putin died) began trending on Twitter.

Also a website, putinumer.com, which is considered as the main source behind the rumours offered readers advice on how to gauge whether the rumours were true.

A Ukrainian website purportedly working with anti-Russian agenda published a cartoon of Putin lying alongside Soviet state founder Vladimir Lenin in his Red Square mausoleum.
