New Delhi:

Cable News Network (CNN) offices in New York were evacuated on Thursday night after the news network received a bomb threat, news agency ANI reported. CNN said that a similar evacuation happened in October after an explosive device was discovered. The caller who phoned in the threat claimed there were five bombs inside the building, New York's WNBC-TV reported, citing a police source.

Several fire alarm bells rang inside CNN's New York newsroom, signalling an evacuation shortly after the call was received, CNN reported. The bomb threat was called in while CNN's Don Lemon was in mid-broadcast. The show reportedly cut to an "abrupt break" around 9.07 am IST.

The area -- around 59th Street and Central Park West in midtown Manhattan -- was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. A bomb squad was also called in, Fox News reported.
