Soon after he declared that he had developed mild symptoms of coronavirus, UK prime minister Boris Johnson spoke to US president Donald Trump over phone to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic. Johnson has gone into self-isolation after he took to social media to announce that he has tested positive for COVID-19. A Downing Street spokesperson said on Friday that the US President had wished the Prime Minister a speedy recovery from coronavirus. Both the leaders agreed to work closely in order to tackle the outbreak of coronavirus, along with the G7, the G20, and other international partners, the spokesperson added.
Moreover, PM Modi also wished Johnson a speedy recovery describing him as a fighter. "You're a fighter and you will overcome this challenge as well. Prayers for your good health and best wishes in ensuring a healthy UK", PM Modi had tweeted.

The death toll due to coronavirus has crossed 1,000 with 260 deaths on a single day in Britain. More than 17,000 people have been tested positive for COVID-19, including Johnson and British health minister, Matt Hancock. Both the leaders are both self-isolating. Earlier, Britain was put on lockdown to tackle the spread of the virus, with everybody in the country being asked to stay in home and avoid any movement.
In order to address the increasing number of coronavirus patients, the state-run National Health Service has been freeing up hospital beds, and is also building a 4,000-bed field hospital in a London conference centre, which is likely to start functioning from next week, reports The Hindu.
According to health experts, the rate of coronavirus infection in the UK has been doubling every three to four days. The number of coronavirus cases are likely to see a surge over the next two to three weeks, before the effects of UK government to contain the virus begin to have an impact.
