In what is being referred as ‘inadvertent’ release of potentially the actual number of infections and deaths due to coronavirus infection, Chinese company Tencent allegedly published the ‘real data’ suggesting that the death count due to the epidemic in China has gone up to 24, 589. However, China has officially announced 500 deaths so far due to the coronavirus outbreak.
According to Taiwan News, Tencent published a report on its webpage titled, “Epidemic Situation Tracker”, which showed confirmed cases of novel coronavirus notching the 154, 023 mark.
Caijing, an independent magazine based in Beijing, has also hinted that the Communist Party of China is downplaying the real threat of coronavirus outbreak.

Morever, the Chinese official on Friday said the death toll in China’s novel coronavirus epidemic has risen to 636 with 73 new mortalities reported, mostly from the worst-affected Hubei province, while the total number of confirmed cases has crossed 31,000.
As many as 73 people were reported dead on Thursday, while another 3,143 new cases of infection have surfaced, taking the total number of confirmed cases of infection to 31,161 from 31 provincial-level regions, the commission said.
To counter the rapid outbreak, China on Thursday opened a new 1,500-bed makeshift hospital especially built for patients. Earlier, a 1,000-bed hospital started functioning with prefabricated wards and isolation rooms in Wuhan.
Several international airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, have cancelled flights to China over fears of the virus spreading across the world, a move which Beijing described as being against WHO guidelines.
Many countries including India and the US have also announced travel bans.
