British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday said he will continue to remain in isolation as he still has mild symptoms of the coronavirus, including high temperature. Johnson, who was tested positive for COVID-19 seven days ago, said, “Although I’m feeling better and I’ve done my seven days of isolation, I still have one of the symptoms, a minor symptom, I still have a temperature.”

In a video message posted on Twitter, the British Prime Minister urged Britons to avoid going outside of their houses and added that the country has been making a huge effort and a huge sacrifice in its fight against coronavirus. He added that Britain did ‘brilliantly well in delaying the spread of the virus’.

Johnson had quarantined himself after being tested positive for coronavirus. In a video message, the British PM had confirmed the reports regarding coronavirus infection. “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives", Johnson had written on Twitter.

According to latest updates, the number of coronavirus cases in United Kingdom has crossed the 33,000 mark with more than 2900 deaths reported so far. Moreover, along with PM Johnson, British health minister, Matt Hancock was also tested positive for COVID-19. Hancock too has been isolating himself.

According to health experts, the rate of coronavirus infection in the UK has been doubling every three to four days. The number of coronavirus cases are likely to see a surge in the coming days, before the effects of UK government to contain the virus begin to have an impact.

Earlier, Britain was put on lockdown to tackle the spread of the virus, with everybody in the country being asked to stay in home and avoid any movement.
