Three men on a holiday would have never thought that their casual trip will help find world a new island.
The discovery of a new island that formed off the coast of Tonga was done by Hotel owner Orbassano, along with his friend and son.
The photographs were taken by three men who climbed to the peak of the land mass 40 miles (65 km) northwest of the capital, Nuku'alofa.
However, the scientists believe that the island can soon disappear as it formed after a volcanic explosion underwater.
It later expanded creating a mile long, cone-shaped formation. Notably, the region is dubbed as ‘Ring of Fire’ due to high levels of seismic activity in the area.
The first pictures of the island were taken by the Pleiades satellite on 19 January 2015.
