Many people were feared killed and over 40 sustained injuries as at least two gunmen opened fire at two mosques in New Zealand’s Christchurch. There were reports of a third shooting scene outside Christchurch Hospital and a car bomb in Strickland mosques. Following the attack, the security personnel locked down the entire city. All the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. One of the gunmen, who is believed to be Australian, even filmed the shooting and wrote a lengthy manifesto revealing his identity and intentions. “it is a terrorist attack,” the shooter said in the live video while he continued firing indiscriminately at people inside the Al Noor Mosque. Locals channels showed a body lying near Al Noor Mosque in central Christchurch. The second gunman was seen near Linwood Masjid mosque. Police in New Zealand have detained four people following mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand.

"The person who has committed this violent act has no place here. To those in Christchurch; I encourage you to stay inside and follow the instructions of @nzpolice. The Police Commissioner will be making a public statement at 5pm. I will update everyone again later this evening," says New Zealand PM.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh test at Hagley Oval Test cancelled: "Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and friends of those affected by the shocking situation in Christchurch. A joint decision between NZC and the @BCBtigers has been made to cancel the Hagley Oval Test. Again both teams and support staff groups are safe," tweets New Zealand cricket board.

"Australia and New Zealand are family and we grieve with our brothers and sisters today. We send our love and condolences, our sorrow and solidarity in this terrible time of fear and pain and grief," says Australia Leader of Opposition Bill Shorten.

New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern terms the incident one of darkest days. "This is and will be one of New Zealand's darkest days," Arden said in a press brieifng.

All Bangladeshi cricketers, who were caught in the firing, are safe, says New Zealand Cricket Board. "Our thoughts are with everyone in Christchurch. We can confirm that both teams and support staff groups are safe and accounted for. We will be working with authorities on the next steps regarding tomorrow’s scheduled Test," BLACKCAPS tweeted.








New Zealand police have advised people to stay indoors and asked all the mosques aross the country to shut their doors until further notice.


"Police is responding to a very serious and tragic incident involving an active shooter in central Christchurch. One person is in custody, however Police believe there may be other offenders.... This is an evolving incident and we are working to confirm the facts." says New Zealand Police.
