At least 26 people, including a minor girl, were dead and over 300 others injured after a massive earthquake jolted several cities in the northern parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore, on Tuesday afternoon. The quake, which according to reports was of 6.3 magnitude in Richter scale, lasted for 8-10 seconds, triggering panic and anxiety across the region. The epicentre of the earthquakes, which occurred at around 4.33 pm in the afternoon, was at the India-Pakistan border, near the Rawalpindi city in Pakistan's Punjab province. People were seen rushing out of their homes and offices in panic in several places across the country.

08:00 pm: Pakistan's major water reservoir Mangla Dam power house located near Mirpur has been closed, cutting off 900 MW power supply to the national grid.
07:55 pm: Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal, chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, said that most of the damage was done in Mirpur and Jhelum. "We are assessing the damage to life and property," Afzal added.
07:50 pm: 19 killed, over 300 injured in PoK's Mirpur and surrounding areas: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police in Mirpur, Sardar Gulfaraz Khan.
05:50 pm: In the wake of this massive disaster, Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) has directed immediate rescue operation in aid of civil administration for victims in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Army troops with aviation and medical support teams have been dispatched.
05:40 pm: Dramatic photos and videos posted on social media platforms show massive damage due to the earthquake across Pakistan.
05:35 pm: Watch: Lucky One Mall, which is the largest mall in Pakistan, collapsed following the massive 6.3 magnitude earthquake.
05:30 pm: Other places which were rattled by the quake, include - Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Chiniot, Jalalpur, Bajaur, Mirpur, Zafarwal, Skardu, Manga Mandi, Kohat, Charsadda,Kamoke, Kasur, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Daska, Gujrat, Sialkot, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Chitral, Malakand, Multan, Shangla, Okara, Nowshera, Attock and Jhang.
05:25 pm: The jolts of the earthquake were felt in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad Capital Territory and other adjoining areas.
05:15 pm: Rescue officials are currently present at the site of the collapse in Mirpur and shifted the wounded people to local hospitals for medical assistance. The injured include women and children.
05:10 pm: As per the local media reports, 5 people including a minor girl were killed and 50 others injured in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir's Mirpur area following the collapse of a roof in a building.
05:00 pm: The epicentre of the quake, which also shook several parts across India, was near the India-Pakistan border. The closest big city to the epicentre is Rawalpindi in Pakistan's Punjab province), said J L Gautam, head of operations at the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).
