New Delhi:

Pakistan has been facing defeat after defeat at the diplomatic front in its effort to internationalise the issue of Kashmir. It has been raise the Kashmir issue at various international fora but has not got much support from other countries.

India at other hand has used its diplomatic effort to send across the message that Kashmir is an bilateral issue and the revoking of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter. India's stand has received support from most nations.

Even, Pakistan ministers are admitting India's success at diplomatic front. In a major embarrassment for the Imran Khan-led government, a Pakistani minister admitted that Pakistan has failed to get support on Jammu and Kashmir on the international front.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Brigadier Ijaz Ahmed Shah said that the international community did not support Pakistan claims on Kashmir and believed India's stand on the issue.

"People do not believe us in the international community. We say they impose curfew and are not giving medicines to people of Jammu and Kashmir. People do not believe us, but they believe them,” Shah said on Wednesday.

During a interview on Pakistani news channel Hum News, Shah blamed the "ruling elite class" for "destroying" the image of the country.

The minister added, "The ruling elite has destroyed the country. The ruling elite of this country destroyed the name. People think we are not a responsible nation."

The comments came just a day after India slammed Pakistan’s comments on alleged human rights violations in Kashmir as a “fabricated narrative" from “the epicentre of global terrorism".

Islamabad had demanded that the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) set up a commission to look into what it termed as “Indian brutality" in the region.

In its remarks to the UNHRC on Tuesday, India said its Constitution was "supreme" and "guaranteed fundamental rights to all our citizens without any distinction" and dismissed Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s comments as a "fabricated narrative" that came from "the epicentre of global terrorism, where ring leaders were sheltered for years".

"This nation conducts cross-border terrorism as a form of alternate diplomacy," said Vijay Thakur Singh, the head of the Indian delegation to the UNHRC.

"The Indian Parliament has been adopting a series of progressive legislations," Singh said.

The government "is taking affirmative actions to promote socioeconomic equality and justice for the underprivileged", he added. The abrogation of Article 370 “will ensure that these progressive measures will also be fully applicable to our citizens in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh".

"These decisions were taken by our Parliament after a full debate that was televised and enjoyed widespread support. We wish to reiterate that this sovereign decision, like other legislations passed by Parliament, is entirely internal to India. No country can accept interference in its internal affairs, certainly not India," Singh asserted.

Last month, Pakistan, even with China’s help, had failed to get United Nations Security Council to pass a resolution on Kashmir.
