World's oldest man, Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal, dies in Israel at the age of 113

New Delhi:

Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal, who was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records to be the world’s oldest man took his last breath in Israel on Friday at the age of 113.

Kristal who was born in Maleniec, Poland, on September 15, 1903, survived the Auschwitz death camp, where he lost his first wife and two children.

However he married again to Batsheva after the war and emigrated to Israel with his family in 1950. Kristal was awarded a Guinness certificate as the world's oldest man on March 11, 2016, when he was 112 years and 178 days old.

Mr Kristal hit the headlines last year after deciding to celebrate his Bar Mitzvah a century late. Usually in Jewish faith, when Jewish boys become 13 years old, they become accountable for their actions and become a bar mitzvah.
