New Delhi :

Facebook owned popular messaging service WhatsApp was facing some issues on the eve of New Year. Many users faced problems while using the app.

The problem was faced primarily in UK and Western Europe. However, some users in India also complained of facing issues sending and receiving messages using the service.

WhatsApp said some users were facing issues while accessing its messaging service. The issue had began shortly after 4.30PM UK time (10PM IST) on New Year's eve. It was one of the busiest day of the year.

WhatsApp says it is working to fully restore service. The company did not answer questions about the cause of the outage or when it started. Facebook says WhatsApp has about 900 million global users.

Facebook also had a glitch on its flagship service on Thursday that invited some users to celebrate "46 years of friendship on Facebook" with one or more of their online friends.
