Massive traffic jams caused by heavy rains have thrown life out of gear in Hyderabad. In two separate incidents of wall collapse in the city, at least seven persons, including four children, were crushed to death on Wednesday. The first incident of wall collapse occurred in Bholakpur area of Musheerabad after an under-construction building collapsed, leaving a woman and her two daughters dead, reports said.

Another incident took place in Ramanthapur area in Uppal in which a couple and their two children were killed as a wall of a building fell on their hut. Heavy rains has been lashing Hyderabad, Secunderabad and surrounding areas since morning, causing water-logging and massive traffic mess in the city. Several vehicles were submerged in water in Secunderabad.

People were stuck on roads as traffic movements were disrupted in parts of Hyderabad due to heavy downpour. Areas that witnessed monster traffic jams include Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Gachibowli, IT Corridor, Somajuguda, Begumpet. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had earlier on Wednesday urged people in a tweet to avoid taking to streets.

"In view of heavy downpour in and around Hyderabad, citizens can reach @GHMCOnline Emergency Call Center at 040 21111111 or 100 for help," GHMC tweeted.

Heavy rains in Delhi

Heavy rains lashed parts of the national capital on Wednesday leading to waterlogging and traffic jams in many areas, even as the mercury settled at the normal level.

Vehicular movement was affected across the city, including at ITO, Vikas Marg, South Extension, Khanpur, Mahipalpur, Hari Nagar, IIT crossing, Nehru Place, Yusuf Sarai Market and Munirka.
