Political satirists and editor of Thuglak, a tamil magazine, Cho Ramaswamy passed away in Chennai on Wednesday. He was 82. Cho Ramswamy was admitted in Apollo Hospital last week after he complained of breathing problems and poor food intake. He is survived by his wife and two children. The demise of veteran editor is also condoled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Cho Ramaswamy was insightful, frank & brilliant. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family & countless readers of Thuglak," he said in a tweet.

The Prime Minister noted that Ramaswamy was respected and admired by many. "Cho Ramaswamy was a multidimensional personality, towering intellectual, great nationalist & fearless voice who was respected and admired," he said.
"Above all, Cho Ramaswamy was a dear friend. I have been to his annual readers meeting which were an unprecedented editor reader interface," he said.
Born in the family of lawyers (his father, grandfather and uncle were well-known lawyers), Cho by-professional was a lawayers but later he took to theatre, before entering into journalism. His political satire Mohamed Bin Thuglak was a critically-acclaimed play.
Cho was also conferred  B.D. Goenka award for excellence in journalism, he was also nominated to Rajya Sabha by the BJP government led by A.B. Vajpayee.
