Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday wished his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif on his birthday. "Birthday wishes to Pakistan PM Mr. Nawaz Sharif. I pray for his long and healthy life," PM Modi tweeted on Sunday.Â

Last year, PM Modi had surprised everyone by making a pit stop in Pakistan on his way back from Afghanistan to wish the Pak leader on his birthday.Â
The visit marked first visit, unplanned or planned, by Indian PM since Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2004, when he visited to attend 12th SAARC Summit in Islamabad.
Indo-Pak relations have been in downward spiral since the 2008 Mumbai Terror attacks.Â
