Los Angeles:

Celebrities like Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Garner and Jane Lynch have joined a campaign requesting people to stop labelling girls as "bossy".

The Girl Scouts of the USA and LeanIn.Org have teamed up in partnership with Lifetime television to create a public service campaign featuring Beyonce, Lynch, Condoleezza Rice, Diane von Furstenberg, Garner and others, reported People magazine.

The ad, which was released on March 9, points out that girls are discouraged from taking leadership roles because of labelling and name-calling.

"Being labelled something matters," Garner says in the video. "Girls are less interested in leadership than boys," Beyonce adds. "And that's because they worry about being called bossy," Lynch continues.

"Be brave, be you. I'm not bossy, I'm the boss," Beyonce says further in the video.
