New Delhi:

Recently, Riteish Deshmukh had said that Humshakals success will eat Ek Villains business. After watching the film this statement seems justified.

Jokes in Humshakals may not have wooed or made audiences giggle but they were definitely better than what Ek Villain delivers in between a revenge saga.

The flick is a story of a serial killer Rakesh (Riteish Deshmukh) who opts the wrong man’s fiancée to murder.

Plot:

Guru (Siddharth Malhotra) is a bad guy with a good heart who gets flattered on the chirpy Aisha (Shraddha Kapoor), who has a joke (unbearable) for every occasion and wants to do few things she has listed in her check list before dying. Aisha’s life is persistent and interestingly seeks Guru’s help in each and every section of life. Their life takes a twist when serial killer Rakesh unknowingly kills Aisha to pacify his love for wife. What follows next is the hunt game which seeks only one thing revenge.

Direction:

Mohit Suri, who had served viewers with musical dramas like Zeher, Awarapan and Aashiqui 2, presents Ek Villain which is intense and dramatically accomplished narration of murder and vengeance.

The film is said to be a remake of Korean film ‘I saw the devil’ but Mohit Suri has interestingly taken the premise to give his own design and tone for the Indian audiences.

Acting:

Talking about acting Riteish Deshmukh as Rakesh wins the hearts and steals the show. While, Siddharth Malhotra has also done good acting but he needs to work a bit more to get snarled with the negative character. Shraddha Kapoor is cute and that is more than enough for her character in the film.

Music:

The songs of the film are already doing good and will definitely stay in chatbeats for some time but their placement in the plot disappoints.

Final Verdict:

Watch it for Riteish Deshmukh, who is making his debut as antagonist with this film.

Here is what stars have to say about the film.
