There are movies which challenge your mind and also defeat it in deciding whether what you watched was entertaining or boring, Mardaani is one of them.
Well, without troubling much, here are some pros and cons of the film.
In terms of pros, the film has a mind blowing female Mard – Shivani Shivaji Rao (Rani Mukherjee) – and a perfect cast which deals with the much sensitive issue Human trafficking in a more simpler manner.
In terms of cons, the movie runs on a very serious note and doesn’t offer much which could entertain audiences, though it was also not letting anyone cross the line of boredom.
Apart from pros and cons, Mardaani is Rani Mukherjee’s first movie after marriage and the way she has returned on-screen is just outstanding.
Stitching herself into the character, Rani plays a no non-sense cop who can act like a monster for criminals and turn into an angel for her loved ones.
The above mentioned character is not new and can easily be related to Dabangg and Singham. But, still watching a female doing all those action sequences was pretty new and different in itself.
At some parts Mardaani is brutal, but even the brutality has been shown with sheer honesty; the film is superbly and artistically shot.
With skilful handling of a sensitive topic like human trafficking, Pradeep Sarkar has told a hard-hitting story which is not comprised with unnecessary songs and background score.
Final Verdict: The twisted cat-mouse chase and a superb climax embraced with Rani Mukherjee’s remarkable acting definitely deserves a single watch.
