Melbourne:

Veteran Leander Paes and Martina Hingis beat French-Canadian pair of Kristina Mladenovic and Daniel Nestor in straight sets to win the mixed doubles final in Australian Open at Melbourne.

Leander Paes kept himself in line for his 15th Grand Slam title by reaching the Australian Open mixed doubles final with Martina Hingis as they defeated Su-Wei Hsieh and Pablo Cuevas in straight sets, in Melbourne on Friday.

The seventh seed Indo-Swiss pair played some amazing tennis to serve past third seeds Nestor and Kristina 6-4, 6-3 in the 1 hour and 2 minutes battle.

It was seventh mixed doubles crown for Paes and Hingis collected her tenth doubles Slam apart from her five singles titles.

Paes and Hingis broke the Canadian-French pair of Nestor and Kristina once in the first set and twice in the second to put up an entertaining display.

Paes, a veteran doubles specialist, joined forces with the 34-year-old Hingis last year only to come up with a Slam title in quick time. (With PTI Inputs)
