New Delhi:

Everyone was so busy celebrating the success of Team Australia on claiming the World Cup for the fifth time and bidding adieu to Michael Clarke that Vettori’s probable end from the One-day international cricket came on fading lines.

On Saturday, Brendon McCullum had showed his desire to give the veteran a fairytale send-off in the World Cup final.

The D-Day didn’t ended to his desire and the lime light got stuck with the yellow dressed Kangaroos, who lifted World Cup trophy for the fifth time to make their skipper’s last match a memorable one.

It was Clarke who got all media attention over the retirement and Vettori’s unofficial see-off came on  a note which had no reason to cheer about.

"Marvelled at his career. He's a tremendous ambassador for the game of New Zealand and also worldwide. I think right throughout his career, he's played at the right spirit," McCullum had said ahead of the final clash.

Official retirement news is still a suspense but we believe Vettori is the man who should be praised for his contribution to the cricket New Zealand.

Having come back from a semi-retirement phase, Vettori has played a major role in New Zealand's march to the World Cup final with 15 wickets in eight games at an economy rate of 3.98.

The 36-year-old veteran left arm bowler is also likely to officially retire from Test cricket, after initially delaying the announcement late last year out of respect for Phillip Hughes, who tragically passed away a few days earlier.

Post retirement career has also been fixed for him as he is likely to take over as Brisbane Heat coach in next year’s Big Bash.
