New Delhi:

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday trekked to Kedarnath and claimed that shrine is safe for pilgrims. But, the question remains is it really safe to walk up till shrine?

Motives behind Rahul Gandhi’s visit

First Motive: “To respect the people who lost their lives here. In 2013 I came here and saw myself what happened here.So I thought if I go Kedarnath in a helicopter it will be disrespectful to them. I though the way those pilgrims came here, I should come here the same way,” said Rahul Gandhi.

Second Motive: “A lot of people work here. Porters are here, they have carried your cameras here. They carry things and people. They are facing a lot of difficulties and are in fear. They are in fear because a tragedy had occurred here and also the tourists who come here are facing a lot of discomfort and fear.”

Difficulties he faced during his trekking

Trekking a distance of 16 km to reach the shrine, Rahul Gandhi faced several troubles including the slippery surface. While he was walking up to reach the shrine he chose a different path as it became difficult for all to walk on slippery surface.

Difficulties one may face during the visit

Running a motor vehicle on the surface is almost impossible, so if one fails to reach till the end then he should always be ready to face the consequences. Lack of facilities in terms of food and medical assistance is still a big issue which is residing in the area.
