Mumbai:

In a shocking incident, a management graduate on Thursday demanded action against a Mumbai-firm for communal discrimination against him.

According to the graduate, Zeshan Khan, “I was denied a job because I was a Muslim. My application was rejected and the mail sent to me suggested that they provide jobs to non-Muslim pupils only.”

He added, “The company should change their ideology. It should not discriminate against candidates on the basis of religion, or else the nation won't progress.”

Zeshan Khan had reportedly applied for a position at Mumbai-based Hare Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd.

The export company is a diamond export conglomerate with offices around the world.

The graduate has also moved the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) for allegedly being denied a job by a Mumbai-based firm for being Muslim.

His Facebook post also led to a clarification by the firm stating, “It does not discriminate on the basis of religion and that the "erroneous" rejection letter was sent by a fresh joinee.”

NCM chairman Naseem Ahmed has demanded an inquiry into the incident.

Notably, this is the same company, whose Surat branch gave huge huge Diwali bonanza i.e. Rs 4 lakh each to 1,268 employees, including cleaning staff, to buy cars, flats and jewellery.

The novel reward costed the company Rs 50 crore.
