New Delhi:

In a rare event, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was on Wednesday seen speaking at the NSUI National Convention.

While addressing the media, he clarified, “I have not used public office to enrich myself, family or friends.”

The statement was made in the backdrop of Pradip Baijal’s claims, who was chief of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India in 2006, that PM Manmohan Singh urged him to "cooperate" with policies flagged as problematic.

Talking about Modi government’s first anniversary, Singh retorted, “We had launched many new programs. New schemes, we had put in place many new policies. Many of our programs are now being repackaged and marketed as initiatives of Modi Govt. What BJP had opposed when we were in power, are now being sold as its contribution. But this doesn’t surprise us, this is the compliment BJP could pay to the constructive work done by UPA Govt.”

He added, “I want to assure you that we (UPA) have been fighting corruption, we will continue to fight corruption & there will be no compromises.”
