Turkmenistan is a country in Central Asia, bordered by Kazakhstan to the northwest, Uzbekistan to the north and east, Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south and southwest, and the Caspian Sea to the west.
It grabbed independence in 1991 post dissolution of Soviet Union.
Turkmenistan is most talked about country as it posses world’s fourth largest reserves of natural gas resources. And this is the reason not a single resident has been charged for using electricity, water and natural gas since 1993.
President for Life Saparmurat Niyazov ruled the nation until his death in 2006. Since then Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow has been taking care of the post.
The country communicate in Russian, which is also the prime language.
