New Delhi:

Taking a cue from their recent holiday in France, designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock have based their upcoming bridal line around the theme of French romance and luxury.

Falguni says their collection, which has vintage and floral influences, is an expression of true opulence inspired by the evergreen French splendour.

“The collection is inspired from the French Riviera. It is more floral and has got a vintage feel to it. We got the idea after our recent holiday in France. We had a show at Cannes and then we went to Paris.

“It was beautiful and I keep telling Shane that I may have been born in Paris in my last life. It was just not getting out of my system, so that is what inspired us to carry froward the look and feel,” Falguni told PTI.

The designer said that the line has also taken inspiration from the famous Cannes Film Festival.

“Our collection has a lot to do with the Cannes Film Fest, its fashion and red carpets. It is so rich in culture and heritage. I think it is just the perfect time to hand over a bit of Cannes to people of India.”

Falguni revealed they got the idea about the collection, which they will showcase during the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week, a year ago but the actual work on it started just a month back.

The collection will feature around 40 outfits in opulent fabrics like chattily lace, imported organza, tulle and pure satin.

The detailed yet delicate work has been balanced by the elegant colour palette. The collection ranges from delicate shades of gold, frosted almond, champagne, salmon pink and placid blue to bold colours like black and red.

“It is very feminine and has been infused with fresh colours mixed with a lot of silver and gold. So it is a beautiful blend of pastels,” Falguni said.

The bridal line features a wide variety of silhouettes like voluminous and slim fit floor scraping gowns, dresses, bridal wear, sarees, lehengas, and sari-gowns.

Premium quality embellishments like rhinestones, bugle beads, crystals, glass sequins and feathers have been used to give the outfits a dreamy effect.

Falguni said in keeping with the traditions, applique work forms the the main feature of the collection with floral motifs and prints of the revered French architecture, embroidered with multicoloured geometric crystals and sequins.

“Our bridal couture is India with a modern twist. Brides today want to wear something different. Gone are the days when brides wanted to wear just sarees. They now want to experiment, wear gowns, even experiment with jewellery. It is becoming more westernised,” she said.
