New Delhi:

It seems like 1970s are back in India. In those days Janta Parivar was constituted to halt the rampaging Congress and now they have come together to stop BJP. In mid 70s many small parties came together under Jayaprakash Narayan and Morarji Desai during the state of emergency in 1977 to form the first non-Congress government in the country.

After few years, the Janta Parivar was divided into many parties due to the clash of egos. Now, they are trying to stich the parivar again. For the first time Nitish Kumar’s JDU and Lalu Yadav’s RJD have decided to fight contest together in the upcoming Bihar polls against BJP. For many people the alliance is unholy as both heavy weights have been bitter enemies for decades.

According to the new pact between JDU and RJD, both will contest 100 seats each, the Congress has been allotted 40 seats and NCP 3. Nitish Kumar, has been declared as the CM candidate of Janata Parivar and RJD will have key portfolios, if they will regain power in the state.

The RJD President indicated that the decision to fight on 100 seats only was a compromise for a cause.

JDU with the help of BJP ruled the state for over 10 years. Last year, just before the general polls it part its ways from the saffron party after they declared Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate.

JD(U), which was in alliance with BJP in 2010 poll, had contested on 141 seats and won 115. BJP, which had contested in 102 seats with Nitish Kumar, had cornered 91 seats.

RJD had fielded candidates in 168 seats and managed to win only 22. Congress had gone in the 2010 poll alone and could win only four seats.

But the big question lies, will JD-U and RJC are capable enough to halt BJP or the people of Bihar will again discard both the parties. The alliance is not so clear and can crumble any moment keeping Bihar's future in limbo.
