Srinagar:
Three heavily armed militants on Wednesday morning attacked an Army camp in Tangdhar sector near the Line of Control, triggering a fierce gunfight in which all the attackers were killed along with a civilian.
The militants targeted rear of the camp at around 6:15 AM resulting in few vehicles catching fire. They used guns and grenade to blast peace residing at the camp.
"There was a stand off fire from Kalsuri Ridge (in Tangdhar sector) towards an army camp this morning," an army official said.
With no casualties reported, he said there was a brief lull before the militants opened fire again, triggering off a gunbattle that lasted for about seven hours.
As per reports, Army oil depot and several vehicles were gutted to fire.
Tangdhar sector is located near LoC in Kupwara region and has been infiltrated few times earlier too. However, there is no confirmation that this attack is also a result of infiltration.
