The Goods and Services Tax is all set for the June 30, 2017 roll out. The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has confirmed that GST will be rolled out as per the plans. Now, we present a complete account of various products which fall in different slabs. A total of 1211 items has been placed under various tax slabs. Most of the items are placed in 18% slab. There is also a big list of items which will not attract GST. 

Here is the complete list of items under different slabs for your perusal:

Exempted list of items (0%)

Goods

Stamps, judicial papers, printed books, newspapers, prasad, salt, bindi, sindoor, bangles, handloom, Jute, fresh meat, fish chicken, eggs, milk, butter milk, curd, natural honey, fresh fruits and vegetables, flour, besan, bread, Bones and horn cores, bone grist, bone meal, etc.; Salt - all types, Kajal, Children's' picture, drawing or colouring books, Human hair, hoof meal, horn meal, Cereal grains hulled, Palmyra jaggery

Items with 5% tax

Goods

Cream, skimmed milk powder, branded paneer, frozen vegetables, items such as fish fillet, coffee, tea, spices, pizza bread, rusk, sabudana, kerosene, agarbatti, kites, postage or revenue stamps, stamp-post marks, first-day covers, coal, medicines, stent, lifeboats, cashew nut, cashew nut in shell, raisin, ice and snow, bio gas, insulin, apparel below Rs 1000, packaged food items, footwear below Rs 500

Railways, air transport, small restaurants

Items with 12% tax

Goods

Frozen meat products , butter, cheese, ghee, dry fruits in packaged form, animal fat, sausage, fruit juices, namkeen, apparel above Rs 1000, all diagnostic kits and reagents, Exercise books and note books, spectacles, corrective, Playing cards, chess board, carom board and other board games like ludo, cellphones, Ketchup & Sauces,  Spoons, forks, ladles, skimmers, cake servers, fish knives, tongs, ayurvedic medicines, tooth powder, colouring books, picture books, umbrella, sewing machine

Services

Business class air ticket, fertilisers, work Contracts, state-run lotteries, non-AC hotels

Items with 18% tax

Goods

Biscuits, flavoured refined sugar, pasta, cornflakes, pastries and cakes, preserved vegetables, jams, sauces, soups, ice cream, instant food mixes, mineral water, curry paste; mayonnaise and salad dressings; mixed condiments and mixed seasonings, tissues, envelopes, tampons, note books, steel products, weighing machinery [other than electric or electronic weighing machinery], printers [other than multifunction printers], electrical transformer, CCTV, optical Fiber, printed circuits, camera, speakers and monitors, kajal pencil sticks, headgear and parts thereof, aluminium foil, bamboo furniture, swimming pools and padding pools, footwear costing more than Rs 500, bidi patta

Restaurants inside five-star hotels, AC hotels that serve liquor, telecom services, IT services, branded garments and financial services, room tariffs between Rs 2,500 and Rs 7,500

Items with 28% tax

Automobiles, motorcycles, aircraft for personal use, deodorants, shaving creams, after shave, hair shampoo, dye, sunscreen, weighing machine, washing machine, ATM, vending machines, vacuum cleaner, shavers, hair clippers, bidis, chewing gum, molasses, chocolate not containing cocoa, waffles and wafers coated with chocolate, pan masala, aerated water, paint, wallpaper, ceramic tiles, water heater, dishwasher

Services

Hotels with room tariffs above Rs 7,500, 5-star hotels, race club betting, cinema, private-run lotteries authorised by the states
