Taxi aggregator Uber on Friday hiked fares of entry-level 'UberGo' by 50% in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). According to a report in PTI, the minimum 'UberGo' fare has been raised to Rs 60 from Rs 40. 

The ride time has also gone up at Rs 1.5/minute from Rs 1/minute.

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick had said in December last year that his company was very excited about its future in India with increasing penetration of smartphones. 

"We are very excited about future of Uber in India. With hundreds-thousands of driver opportunity and jobs we have come here with, we could't be more excited to serve India and to work with sons and daughters of India who run Indian operations," a leading newspaper had quoted Kalanick as saying after a meeting with Union Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in December. 

Uber operates across 73 countries. India has become the largest market outside the United States for Uber and accounts for 12 per cent of all Uber trips globally.
