Remember Varun Dhawan's is 2015 release revenge thriller 'Badlapur'? Director Sriram Raghavan is planning to make a sequel of the movie. However, this time he is keen to make the movie with a female protagonist and an A-lister actress on his mind for the lead role.

We are talking about Deepika Padukone. According to the media reports will reportedly be exploring a dark and gore genre of cinema in 'Badlapur'.

Although, the movie is still in its early stages but the filmmaker is quite determined to rope in the 'Piku' actress for the role. On the other hand, producer of the movie Dinesh Vijan too is quite fond of DP and also share a great rapport with her. In fact, Padukone even made a special appearance in Dinesh’s directorial debut 'Raabta'.

While an official announcement is yet to be made in this regard, it is reported that Deepika will be seen playing the role of a woman with motive and revenge just like Varun did in first instalment.

The media reports suggest that 'Badlapur 2' will hit the floors in the second half of 2018.

Currently, Deepika Padukone is shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama 'Padmavati' in wshich she plays the titular role. The movie will also star Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in key roles. 'Padmavati' is slated to release November 17.
