Ranveer Singh has become one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood all thanks to his impeccable performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. The dashing actor portrayed the character of Alauddin Khilji with perfection and managed to win the hearts of the audience.
Padmaavat which also stars Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor is roaring at the box office and has collected over Rs 200 crore within two weeks of release. The period drama which hit the silver screens on January 25 has already become the most successful film of Ranveer’s career.
Despite playing the antagonist, the ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ star garnered the spotlight from the other actors. The actor who bagged all the laurels for his performance in ‘Baajirao Mastani’ has once again proved why he is the next big thing in Bollywood.
Grapevines are now buzzing with the news that post the thunderous success of Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh has reportedly hiked his charging fee.
According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the 32-year-old actor has now kept his charging fee for a film at Rs 13 crore to match his Padmaavat co-star and girlfriend Deepika Padukone.
Interestingly, Deepika reportedly charges the same amount for signing a film. The ‘Piku’ actress recently confirmed that she was paid more than the two male actors in Padmaavat.
A trade source informed the leading daily that it is common in B-town to get a hike when you a deliver a hit at the box office.
The source told Deccan Chronicle, ''Ranveer will command this price now. Had this film released all over India, his asking price would have been bigger too. As for Deepika, she charged the price since she allotted lot more days for the film, as compared to a movie that otherwise takes only 60 days of shoot. Her price for other films as Rs 13 crore now after Padmaavat stands vindicated too.
Ranveer Singh has some exciting projects in his kitty, be it, Gully Boy, Simmba and 83. The Lootera actor is currently busy with the shoot of Gully Boy which also features Alia Bhatt opposite him. The Zoya Akhtar directorial will hit the cinema theatres on February 14, 2019.
Ranveer’s another film ‘83’ will reportedly see him playing the role of Kapil Dev and is based on the 1983 cricket world cup win. The Kabir Khan directorial will be released on August 30, 2019.
Considering his power-pack performance and impressive track record, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ranveer manages to deliver successive hits in Bollywood.
