Veteran actress Sumita Suniyal breathed her last on Sunday. She was 71 years of age at the time of her death.
Sumita, who was a well known face in Bengali film industry, is known for her role in Rajesh Khanna's 'Anand' opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Besides, she was also seen in movies like 'Guddi', 'Aashirwad' and 'Mere Apne'.
The veteran actress was married to film editor Subodh Roy
While more details about her demise are awaited, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took it to micro-blogging site to condole Sumita's death. She wrote, "Saddened at the passing of veteran actress Sumita Sanyal. My condolences to her family, friends and fans".

On the other hand, renowend Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee also expressed his grief over Sanyal's death and wrote, "Saddened to hear about the demise of the veteran actress Sumita Sanyal May her soul rest in peace"
