As women are coming in forefront to share their tumultuous former relationships and the mental or physical trauma it caused in the wake of ‘Thappad’ release, Deepika Padukone has her own story after her former relationship that turned sour pushing the actress to depression, the ordeal of being cheated on and how she dealt with it.
Talking about the necessity of fidelity and commitment in a relationship, Deepika in an interview said. "For me, sex is not just about physicality; there are emotions involved. I have never cheated or strayed when I'm in a relationship. If I'm going to be fooling around, why would I be in a relationship? It's better to be single and have fun. But not everyone thinks like that."
Recalling her bitter experiences in a relationship in the past, she revealed that because of her thinking and no compromise on loyalty part she can been hurt multiple times. Deepika shared that it wasn’t wise on her part to give second chance to a person, ‘pleading and begging’ when everybody around her advised that the person concerned has not changed and is still ‘straying’ around. “Then I actually caught him red-handed. It took me a while to get out. But having done that, nothing can make me go back. That ship has sailed." Deepika's assertion came in an interview reproduced by asianetnews.com.
Deepika even confessed how she blamed herself when thing went wrong in her relationship and that she gives too much for it without expecting much in returm. Nevertheless ‘infidelity’ has always been a deal breaker for the Chhapaak actress. ‘’When someone makes a habit of it, you know the problem lies with him. I give a lot in relationships, and don't really expect much in return. But, infidelity is the deal breaker.” said she.
For the 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela' actress ‘infedility’ breaks the pillars of a relationship from respect to trust and hence cannot let someone go away with it.
