New Delhi:

Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan’s Love Aaj Kal is struggling to impress the audience at the box office. While Love Aaj Kal had an impressive opening on Friday with Rs 12.40 Crore collections, the film saw a major dip in the coming days. The film has managed to collect a total of Rs 33.26 crore in five days. A Box Office India report claimed, that the Imtiaz Ali directorial earned a meagre Rs 2 crore on Tuesday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures earlier. ''#LoveAajKal collapses on Day 4... The drastic fall in numbers doesn’t come as a surprise, since the trending was evident during its *opening weekend* itself... Fri 12.40 cr, Sat 8.01 cr, Sun 8.10 cr, Mon 2.75 cr. Total: ₹ 31.26 cr. #India biz,'' he wrote.

It was Kartik’s career-best opening, ahead of the Rs 9 crore posted by Pati Patni Aur Woh. The film also featured Randeep Hooda and Arushi Sharma.

A remake of the 2009 movie starring Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, Love Aaj Kal sees Kartik play a double role as Veer (from 2020) and Raghu (from 1990). Sara, on the other hand plays Veer's 2020 girlfriend named Zoe, a snappy city girl who wants to live life at the moment while Arushi plays Raghu's childhood sweetheart Leena.

Sharing her experience of teaming up with the ace director, Sara had told ETimes, "First 10 emotions I felt were disbelief as I couldn’t believe that Imtiaz Sir had come to me with a romantic film. Once that settled down, there was a lot of excitement. I think then there was gratitude when I actually understood what exactly he is asking from me, which is to portray, I think, a very relevant and very relatable concept. Love is something that we all discuss. It's something that we all talk about.

‘’It's something that everybody can relate to. I think that this film is similar to the first film, in that it talks about the differences and similarities between the love in the past and love today and how maybe the language of expressing love has changed,’’ she added.
