The trailer of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ is finally out on the internet. The movie is based on the life of Haryana-based sharpshooters, Chandro and Prakashi Tomar, played by Bhumi and Taapsee, respectively.
Both the sharpshooter won multiple championships together and the two are considered to be the oldest sharpshooters in the world.
After looking at the trailer of ‘Saand Ki Aankh’, we can see that the movie touches on several social issues internalized patriarchy, gender disparity and where the quest of two women trying to change the norms of society.
Chandro and Prakashi both want their granddaughters to learn shooting so that they don't have to live the same oppressed life. In an attempt to make their granddaughters learn shooting, they discover their own talent and love for shooting at this senior age.
The rest of the trailer shows their fight against the society and how they overcome all the obstacles to win medals for the country.
In an earlier interaction with IANS, Bhumi had opened up on the film saying, "These two women by a sheer stroke of luck become sharpshooters. They travel the world, they are given incredible recognitions, they make our country proud but no one really knows how they fought their house, the society to make a difference in the lives of their grand-daughters and bring positive change for women in their male-dominated community. It is an extremely powerful story"
Helmed by Tushar Hiranandani, ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ is scheduled to release this Diwali.
