Thackeray box office collection day 1: Nawazuddin, Amrita's flick earns Rs 6 crore

While the trailer of Thackeray saw the multifarious Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his powerful portrayal as the political leader and Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, the much-awaited biopic was released on January 25. The film also stars Vivah fame actress Amrita Rao is portraying the role of Meenatai Thackeray (wife of Balasaheb Thackeray). Balasaheb’s biopic has managed to churn out decent on its first day and earned Rs 6 crore in both Hindi and Marathi languages. However, the movie has performed specifically well in the state of Maharashtra.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, ‘’#Thackeray has scored in #Maharashtra specifically... #Marathi version has collected very well... #RepublicDay holiday [today] should help escalate its biz... Fri ₹ 6 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Marathi’’.

As the movie is based on the life of one of the most influential political leaders of Maharashtra, it is expected that movie will churn out big in Maharashtra state.

Recently, in an interview with PTI, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “I don’t have any ideology, philosophy or take on anything. I am not a judgemental person. I am an actor and my job is to take up every role that excites me. If I will have a set ideology, my growth as an actor will be affected. I don’t think actors should have their own ideologies’’.

Thackeray was released on the silver screen alongside Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The movie is one of the most controversial films of the year, Manikarnika, a period drama is based on the life and struggles of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and her war against the British East India Company, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The film will release in over 50 countries in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. With only a few days to go before the film release, the makers are putting in every effort to bring the best while maintaining the hype steady going.

 As the movie is helmed by a popular Telugu filmmaker Krish, it is expected that movie will also churn out big in the Southern part of the country.
