Bhajan singer and former Bigg Boss contestant Anup Jalota who has been kept in isolation in a Mumbai hotel by the medical team in Mumbai airport after he arrived to the country from London as a compulsory screening process for passengers arriving from any overseas location amid coronavirus health crisis shared his experience about the same in video message.

In the video Jalota addressing to his fans said he arrived to Mumbai yesterday morning from London after attending concerts in Europe. The medical team immediately alerted him that he will be kept in isolation and under observation for two days as his age is above 60 years and his immunity is weak compared the younger generation. The singer insisted that even after being 66, he has an immunity of a 30 years old person as he maintains a disciplined lifestyle, consumes 1500mc vitamins daily, does ‘pranaam’ and yoga for the last 40 years. The singer then went on to say that the officials requested him to follow the set protocol to which he cooperated. At the airport he was stamped 'Home Quarantined' for 14 days with date.

Addressing the people who fled the isolation ward in a Mumbai hospital, Jalota said that they are putting their family at risk and should come back and asked asymptomatic people should get themselves checked immediately and cooperate with the government to fight the Coronavirus crisis.

On returning to Mumbai, Jalota tweeted, “I am in awe with the Medical Care offered by BMC for passengers who are 60+.” Jalota informed he was taken to Hotel Mirage where a team of doctors was sent to attend him. He appealed each passenger landing at Mumbai International Airport to cooperate with authorities in primary screening and help in controlling the further spread

Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray responded to the tweet. Thanking Jalota he said, “We’re taking maximum precautions to ensure everyone who lands in Maharashtra is safe and well taken care of, as well as we secure every citizen”

 

Anup Jalota's spokesperson told PTI "Anup ji hasn''t gone for coronavirus test. He is alright. He is in isolation for two days for formalities, because he has just arrived from Europe tour including UK and Germany,"

Meanwhile, more than 490 flights operated by foreign carriers to and from India have been cancelled for varying periods of time while the count of weekly flights cancelled by domestic airlines is more than 90, as per official data. Visa-free travel facility granted to Overseas Citizen Of India (OCI) cardholders are kept in abeyance till 15th April 2020. Many trains from Rajdhani Express to Duronto has been cancelled till March 31.
