Congress leader and Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor has a formidable knowledge of English, amazing oratory skills and a sharp sense of humour. This time his comic timings were put to test as he tried his hands at stand-up comedy at Amazon Prime's One Mic Stand with comedian Kunal Kamra as his mentor.
The MP has recently shared a small preview of his stand-up act where he shares a childhood instance of being asked to entertain guest by speaking English and how he would in turn embarrass the guest with his vocabulary of words. The other joke that cracked the audience was him asking for ‘Caesar Salad’ and the waitress assuming he is quoting Shakespeare even in his regular food order!

As soon as the preview was shared, followers started flooding his feed with comments. While some are ‘early waiting’ for the episode to stream, some have even started googling words he used in the video! Kunal Kamra too shared a poster of the episode.
Tharoor won't be the only one who will be trying his hand at stand-up comedy but he will be joined by music composer Vishal Dadlani, actresses Richa Chadha and Taapsee Pannu, and YouTube star Bhuvan Bam on the show. According to reports, the celebs will be mentored by comics Sapan Varma, Ashish Shakya, Kunal Kamra, Rohan Joshi and Angad Singh Ranyal and have spent a week training under their expertise. The episode premires on November 15.
Amazon dropped the poster of the series featuring the five celebs along with Sapan Verma, and captioned it, "5 comics mentor 5 celebs, you either laugh at their jokes or you laugh at them trying! win-win #OneMicStand."
Shashi Tharoor has earlier appeared in Netflix's Patriot Act where Hasan Minhaj tested his millennial vocabulary.
