BJP prez Amit Shah says Rahul Gandhi should give account of work of his three generations

New Delhi :

Hitting back at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday asked the former to give an account of the work of his three generations.

While addressing a meeting of BJP workers, Shah said the Modi government has completed three years in Centre and the saffron party has been giving an account of its performance.

Shah's comments came after Rahul Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's economic policies during his visit to the United States.

“Now Rahul Gandhi should give an account of the works of his three generations,” he said.

The BJP chief did not cite names but he was referring to governments of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi.

Addressing a press conference separately, Shah credited the Modi government with starting an era of “politics of performance” in the country.

“If you compare how things were when we took over in 2014 and how they are at present, you will find a big difference,” he said.

He said the UPA government was mired in scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore and suffered from “policy paralysis” while the BJP government has been able to give a “transparent and performance-oriented” government, which is also decisive.

“A major change is evident all over the country today and the credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi under whose leadership historic decisions like demonetisation, crackdown on benami property, a uniform tax regime under GST were taken.  They put an end to a parallel economy run by black money,” the BJP chief claimed.

“Economic reforms and strategic decisions like the surgical strikes (on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) have helped build India’s image abroad as a strong-willed nation,” he said. “Today we have been able to evolve a brand India and countries all over the world want better relations with us,” Shah said.
