New Delhi:
Ahead of India’s mouthwatering clash with Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force has arrested an alleged member of a gang involved in high profile betting.
“Ajay Yadav was arrested from Gorakhpur on Thursday by the STF on a tip off and cash, mobile phones, 36 cheques of different banks and accounts allegedly used by the gang,” Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), STF, Arvind Chaturvedi said.
Police arrested Ajay when he along with other gang members was betting on India-Bangladesh match in Purdilpur locality in Gorakhpur, he said.
However, the other gang members had successfully managed to escape and police could only arrest Ajay.
The STF is trying to evoke more information from the accused and his gang, Chaturvedi added.
