Mother-Son who sheltered Honeypreet arrested in Bathinda

A woman named Sharanjeet Kaur and her son Gurmeet Singh were arrested by Panchkula police on Monday. The allegation against the mother-son duo is that they provided shelter to Honeypreet, the ‘adopted daughter’ of jailed Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, when she was absconding.

Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla said the mother-son duo were arrested after the police had enough evidence to prove that Honeypreet stayed in their house.

Another arrest was made which was of Chandigarh police head constable Lal Chand for his alleged role in trying to ‘free’ the Dera chief from the district court complex on August 25 after he was convicted in two rape cases. A person named was Gopal Bansal was also arrested on Monday for alleged involvement in the violence following the conviction of the Dera chief in Panchkula.

Panchkula Police Commissioner A S Chawla, said, “We got evidence against Lal Chand and arrested him. Sharanjeet and her son, Gurmeet, had provided shelter to Honeypreet.”
