Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s eldest son Akash Ambani got engaged to Shloka Mehta on Saturday, according to media reports. Shloka is the youngest daughter of prominent diamantaire Russell Mehta.
Grapevines are buzzing with the rumours that Akash proposed Shloka at a family gathering in Goa. The engagement took place in the presence of Mukesh Ambani, his mother Kokilaben, Nita and other close family members, suggest reports.
According to a report in Free Press Journal, Shloka and Akash are alumni of Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. The report said that the two have been close friends for years.
The Ambanis and Mehtas, who reside in South Mumbai, are said to know each other very well. Fan clubs shared pictures from the ceremony on social media.
A report in Nagpur Today suggested that Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta will take nuptial vows later this year. The Ambani family is yet to release an official statement on the same.
While Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in the country, Russell Mehta is the owner of Rosy Blue Diamonds, the world’s largest diamond trading company.
Talking about Akash, the 27-year-old is reportedly the brain child behind Reliance Jio. His fiancée Shloka is the director of Rosy Blue Diamonds and also the co-founder of ConnectFor, an organisation which makes it easy for NGOs to get volunteers for different causes.
