Outgoing High Commissioner of Pakistan to India, Abdul Basit on Tuesday defended Hizbul Mujahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin, saying that the latter is not a terrorist as far as Pakistan is concerned.

Basit shrugged off Unites States’s announcement who dubbed him as specially designated global terrorist.

While speaking to news agency ANI, Basit asserted that Salahuddin is struggling for the right to self-determination of Kashmiris. He said,"We don't agree with him being a global terrorist and also criticize the decision on part of the United States as well.”

The United States had declared Salahuddin a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT).
