Banda:

Huge quantity of explosives on Monday were recovered from the residence of an ex-serviceman during a raid in Patraha village in the district, said police.

Acting on a tip off, police raided the house of Hari Shankar Kushwaha on Sunday and recovered 200 kg of ammonium nitrate packed in four sacks. Kushwaha managed to flee as soon as the police arrived, ASP Mayaram Verma said.

Ammonium nitrate is generally used in blasting stones and quarrying but the ex-serviceman did not have any contract for carrying out this work neither he had the permission to store it, he said. A hunt has been launched to nab Kushwaha and a case has been registered in this connection, Verma said.
