After long lockdowns the old world charm of rich Indian entertainment came to life in the cool winter weekend in Delhi with the 2nd Phase of 10th edition of Jashn-e-Adab Hindi and Urdu Poetry Festival. Jashn-e-Adab Poetry festival is one of the biggest and the most popular poetry festivals in the country, which celebrates and endorses good quality Indian entertainment. The festival had an array of mesmerizing performances and engrossing discussions. Hosted at India International Centre, Lodhi Road, the event received great appreciation and participation.

The three-day event embraced Indian culture and art with Nukkad Natak, Mehfil-E-Mushaira, Sur Sangat - Classical Instrumental performance, Classical Dance performance, Ghazal performance, Qawwali, Bait Bazi - Game of Urdu Poetry and Kavi Sammelan. Eminent artists and personalities like Padma Shri Ashok Chakradhar, Padma Shri Malini Awasthi (Singer), Padma Shri Alok Mehta (Veteran Journalist), Raghubir Yadav (Veteran Actor), Vijay Raaz (Actor), Faizal Malik (Actor & Producer), Padma Shri Akhtarul Wasey (Scholar), Sharad Dutt (Writer), Yatindra Mishra (Poet), Dr. Khalid Javed (Urdu Novelist), Asghar Wajahat (Scholar, Writer, Novelist, Playwright), Salma Sultan (Veteran Journalist), Mahesh Garg Bedhadak (Poet), Arvind Gaur (Theater Personality), Junaid Sultani (Qawwal), Shakeel Ahmad (Ghazal Singer), RJ Naved and Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan (Poet) performed and participated in the festival.

The festival brought out vibrant colours of old school Indian entertainment in the modern context for art admirers and the youth of the country. Talking about the festival Kunwar Ranjeet Chauhan, Secretary and Founder, Jashn-e-Adab Foundation said,” Everything comes to us that belongs to us if we create the capacity to receive it are the wise words of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. Indian literature, poetry, dance, theatre and music has a lot to offer.

What we need is to take out a little time to connect and absorb. Every person can find something for themselves in classic Indian art, it is not only enriching but also great entertainment. Since the time Jashn-e-Adab was started, we were pleasantly surprised that a lot of youth was excited and wanted to get connected with the festival. They looked forward to attending it edition after edition. Classic and traditional formats such as Baitbazi, Kavi Sammelan, Mushaira, Qawwali, etc. are favourites. We have been humbled and encouraged by the response of people; and the support and participation of celebrated artists who are the brand ambassadors of Indian art on global platforms.” Every year Jashn-e-Adab Foundation felicitates accomplished Indian artists and personalities for their tremendous contribution towards promoting Indian culture, art and heritage.

This year the organisation is applauding the contribution with respective awards, Shri Govind Mishra (renowned novelist) – Jashn-e-Adab Sahitya Utsav Katha Shikhar Samman 2021, Shri Irfan Khan (renowned cartoonist) – Jashn-e-Adab Sahitya Utsav 2021 Vyangya Shikhar Samman, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Yusufi (renowned Urdu satirist) – Jashn-e-Adab Award 2021 for Humour & Satire (Posthumously), Shri Parvez Ahmad (veteran journalist) – Jashn-e-Adab Sahitya Utsav Award 2021 for Excellence in Print Media, Smt. Salma Sultan (veteran news anchor & journalist) – Jashn-e-Adab Sahityaotsava Award 2021 for Excellence in Electronic Media, Dr. Sonal Mansigh (renowned classical dancer) – Jashn-e-Adab Sahityaotsava Award 2021 Excellence in Indian Classical Dance, Prof. Shamim Hanfi (renowned writer) – Jashn-e-Adab Award 2021 for Urdu Literature (Posthumously).

Jashn-e-Adab Foundation, Society of Poetry and Literature which dedicated its efforts towards promoting all facets of Indian art, culture and literature. Jashn-e-Adab Foundation organises the festival with the aim to expose the youth of India to good quality Indian entertainment while enabling experience and understanding of talented Indian artists. Entry was strictly by invitation only and the program was streamed live on the YouTube channel, Twitter and Facebook page of Jashn-e-Adab.
