New Delhi:

In yet another setback to Pakistan, which has been trying hard to internationalise the Kashmir issue, the Russia on Wednesday said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter of India and diluting Article 370 is India’s sovereign decision.

“This is the sovereign decision of Indian government, it's an internal matter of India. All issues existing between India & Pakistan should be resolved through dialogue on the basis of Shimla agreement & Lahore declaration,” Russian Envoy to India, Nikolay Kudashev, said.

Roman Babushkin, Deputy Chief of Russian Embassy in India, said Russia has no role to play in India-Pakistan dispute.

“Russia has no role to play in India-Pakistan dispute, unless both ask for mediation. During the closed-door event at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), we reiterated that Kashmir is an internal issue of India,” Roman Babushkin said.

Poland-which currently holds the presidency of United Nations Security Council- has already made it clear that Kashmir dispute should be solved ‘bilaterally’. Poland holds the presidency of the UNSC for the month of August and its current stand on Kashmir puts a lid on Islamabad’s urge to take the issue at international level. Pakistan has for long tried to internationalise the Kashmir issue and has failed in wake of India’s proactive diplomacy worldwide.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday addressed his country on Kashmir and said that Islamabad will go to any extent and if nuclear war happens, entire world will get affected. He said that Narendra Modi made a "historic blunder" by removing the special status of Kashmir and the move will help the state attain "freedom".

After India's decision on Kashmir, Pakistan is leaving no stones unturned to internationlise the issue by raising it on global fronts multiple times. They even took the Kashmir issue to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) with the help of China, but failed miserably after the council refused to issue any statement and suggested bilateral route to resolve the issue.
